AI is replacing jobs in fields that can be automated like the agricultural and transportation sector. Automating many jobs results in lower cost for the employer and company as a whole and therefore it is in the employer’s interest to automate as many jobs as possible which will make loads of people unemployed. Also, the widespread adoption of autonomous vehicles could make millions of drivers unemployed. Some people will not be able to go back to university to specialize in a new field that hasn’t been taken over by AI and at that point, if they are unable to retire, they do not have many options. The benefits and consequences of job automation need to be closely examined before it is carried out for each field.
